General Secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) Shirin Akhter, MP,today blamed BNP led by Begum Khaleda Zia as the patron, supporter, producer, reproducer and savior of armed militancy.
"Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP have been continuously and repeatedly providing that they are the companions of the war criminals, 'Tentul Hujur' and militancy," Shirin said while addressing a round-table held at a local community centre as the chief guest.
The district unit of JSD organised the round-table discussion tilted 'Elimination of militancy, boycotting militant-companions and framing legal structures for their trial' with its President Azizar Rahman in the chair.
JSD Standing Committee Member and former Vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Professor Dr Anwar Hossain and Brigadier General (retd) GM Kamrul Islam addressed the round-table discussion as the guest of honour.
Education Affairs Secretary of JSD Central Committee Rajiur Rahman, district unit General Secretary Shakhawat Ranga, lyricist Asafa Selim, journalists Wadud Ali, Aftab Hossain and Abu Taleb, cultural personality Dr Mofizul Islam Montu, Awami League leader Nabi Ullah Panna, addressed, among others.
Shirin Akhter said that elimination of militancy and militants, boycotting and trying their companions and rooting out corruption had become the need of the time for establishing peace and good governance in building a developed socialist Bangladesh.
"The 14-party alliance and grand alliance government has taken administrative steps and continues movements to eliminate militancy and militants once for all from the country," she said.
On the contrary, Begum Khaleda Zia and BNP had engaged their all-out efforts to save their patronised militants and hatch conspiracies of attacking on the country and its population after leaving the path of democracy, she alleged.
"Despite repeated requests, Begum Khaleda Zia has not left side of the militants," she said putting stressed on eliminating militants and boycotting militant-companion Begum Khaleda Zia from the democratic process.
Bangladesh should win the war against militants and ensure their trial without any comprise for advancement of the country toward peace, prosperity and democracy in spirit of the War of Liberation, Shirin said.
