DHAKA, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha had intended to stage a 'judicial coup'.
Two to two and a half years' time was wasted in tackling this (thwarting the attempt), he said at a coordination meeting with the officials of Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division at the Secretariat, said an official release.
The minister added that many development works were also hindered due to Justice Sinha.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had formed the legislative division realizing its necessity for the rule of law. No law can go outside the purview of this division.
Emphasizing the need for imparting higher training to legislative division officials abroad, he said the ministry would take initiatives in this regard.
He also assured that steps would be taken to provide transport facility for deputy secretaries.
Senior secretary of the division Mohammad Shahidul Haque conducted the meeting.
