DHAKA, Dec 23, 2016 (BSS)- Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy today congratulated Awami League nominee Selina Hayat Ivy for being reelected mayor in the Narayanganj City Corporation election.
"Congratulations to Mayor Ivy for winning against the BNP. She bagged 42 percent of the vote against the BNP's 29 percent with voter turnout a little over 60 percent," he wrote in his verified facebook page.
Joy said this was one of the most peaceful elections in Bangladesh. "Even the BNP could not find anything to complain about the election" he added.
Ivy has been reelected mayor unofficially in the Narayanganj City Corporation polls beating her rival BNP-backed candidate Sakhawat Hossain Khan.
Ivy with the symbol of "Boat" bagged 1,75,611 votes while Khan with "Sheep of paddy" got 96,044 votes.
