Journalists for international recognition of Genocide Day

DHAKA, March 25, 2017 (BSS)- Journalists here today launched a mass signature campaign demanding international recognition of March 25 as Genocide Day.

Prime Minister's Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhory inaugurated the campaign at Jatiya Press Club, organized by Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).

Prior to inauguration of mass-signature campaign, a discussion meeting was held at the same venue. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhory attended the programme as the chief guest with DUJ President Shaban Mahmud in the chair.

BFUJ Secretary General Omar Farooq addressed the function as the special guest while former BFUJ Secretary General and former DUJ President M Shahjahan Miah addressed it as the guest of honor.

Addressing the discussion, Iqbal Sobhan said inauguration of the mass signature campaign on Genocide Day demanding its international recognition will give a new message to the nation. The campaign, he said, would also create a new history in journalists' community.

Former DUJ Office Secretary Barun Bhoumik Nayan, Executive Council Members Mahmudur Rahman Khokan and Dulal Khan addressed the function, among others.

DUJ General Secretary Sohel Hayder Chowdhury conducted the function.
