DHAKA, A threeday national philatelic exhibition BANGLAPEX2019 began here today.
Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at the National Museum, jointly organized by the Bangladesh Post Office (BPO) and Bangladesh Philatelic Federation (BPF).
Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Jabbar said commemorative postage stamps were historical reflection of important personalities and events for the new generation as well as an extraordinary bridge of country's history, heritage and culture.
He said postage stamps collection as a hobby is acknowledged globally for not having any age limit.
The minister asked the BPO and BPF to take necessary measures to make the philately more popular and acceptable.
The minister also released an over print of Taka 10 on the occasion of National Philatelic Exhibition.
BPO Director General Shudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra, BPF President Professor Dr Kazi Shariful Alam and General Secretary of Banglapex Organizing Committee, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
