An 11-member high-powered Indian delegation led by Defence Minister Shri Manohar Gopalkrishna Prabhu Parrikar arrived in the capital this morning on a two-day official visit.
A special flight of Indian Biman carrying the delegation landed at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu at Kurmitola here while Principal Staff Officer of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General Md Mahfuzur Rahman received the Indian Minister and his entourage, an ISPR press release said.
Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla was present at the reception ceremony, among others.
The deputy chiefs of staff of Indian Army, Navy and Air Force respectively called on chiefs of three services of Bangladesh.
During their meeting, they exchanged wellbeing and discussed different issues relating to expansion of cooperation between the services of the two countries.
However, during two-day tour in Dhaka, the Indian minister, along with the members of his delegation, is expected to pay separate calls on President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister's Security Adviser Major General Tarique Ahmed Sidique (Rtd).
Besides, a cultural function and dinner will be held at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment to the honor of the touring delegation during this visit, the release added.
The Indian delegation will leave the country on December 1 after wrapping up their two-day Bangladesh visit, it said.
