Increased power generation expedites rural economy: Palak

NATORE- State minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said rural economy has been expedited due to boost up power generation in the country.

He said the rural people after getting the power connection have been engaged them with different development activities.

The state minister was addressing the opening ceremony of electrification to 100 households at Kaigram village in Singra Upazila here.

Natore Palli Bidyut Samity-I has provided the connection to the households of Kaigram, Nalpukuria, Anulia Para and Koyapara villages through setting up 1.69km transmission line with Taka 23.87 lakh.

Mentioning that a total of 35,000 customers have got power connection in last 8 years in Singra Upazila, Palak said people of the country are being enjoyed the outcome of the increased power generation that now totaled at 12,000 MW.

Referring to the government's vision of providing power to all households across the country by 2018, he said: "Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has now appeared as a 'role model' of development in globally."

Upazila Awami League (AL) President Advocate Ohidur Rahman Sheikh, Vice President Abdul Wadud Mollah and Ramananda-Khazura Union AL General Secretary Idris Ali, among others, spoke on the occasion with union AL President Tapan Kumar Sarker in the chair.
