DHAKA, Jan 19, 2017 (BSS) - A delegation of HelpAge International
Bangladesh called on Chief Whip A.S.M. Feroz at his office here today.
Regional directors of East Asia Pacific and South East Asia Pacific Eduardo Klien and Peter McGreachie led the delegation.
Elaborating the government initiatives for welfare of the aged people the Chief Whip said, "We have taken various measures such as VGD, VGF, TR, GR, food for work, money for work projects under the Social Safety Network programme which will work as the driving force for the livelihood of the elderly people."
During the meeting he also said, "The government has taken initiative to build six aged homes in the country's all six divisions to ensure social security of the senior citizens, introducing fare market price and formulating National Policy on Older Persons, 2013 to give senior citizen status to the aged people."
The Chief Whip expressed hope that Bangladesh and HelpAge International Bangladesh will work together in the days to come for the wellbeing of the aged people.
The leaders of the delegation have promised to give all sorts of
assistance in formulating policy for the welfare of the older people.
