HC questions undeclared FF’s job extension

DHAKA, April 2, 2017 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today issued a rule asking as to why it shall not declare illegal extending job tenure of government employees who did not declare their Freedom Fighter status during joining their concerned offices.

The court also asked concerned officials to explain in four weeks under what authority the chief engineer of Education Engineering Department (EED) is still holding his office in spite of completing his service tenure.

A high Court division bench comprising Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das issued the rule today after holding hearing on writ petition filed by Freedom Fighter SA Malek and Prajanma League leader Khalid Hossain.

The court in its order asked five officials including Liberation War Affairs Ministry secretary, education secretary, EED chief engineer Dewan Mohammad Hanjala to submit their explanations in this regard.
