DHAKA, The High Court (HC) today ordered
authorities concerned to spray insecticide extensively and conduct raids
across the country to eliminate Aedes mosquitoes and tackle deadly dengue
disease this way.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Tariq ul Hakim and
Justice Md Shohrowardi came up with the order, setting October 16 for further
hearing in this regard.
Referring similar cases from other countries, the court said if
necessary, authorities can declare holiday for one or two days and can
conduct simultaneous raids to destroy Aedes breeding grounds jointly.
Barrister Toufik Inam Tipu was present on behalf of Dhaka North City
Corporation (DNCC), while deputy attorney general Barrister Qazi Mainul Hasan
appeared for the state.
