DHAKA, - The High Court (HC) today ordered judicial investigation into the fire at Santal houses in Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha.
A division bench of the HC comprising Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order upon a petition.
The court asked the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gobindaganj to conduct investigation to find out whether police were involved in setting fire to the Santal house at Gobindaganj in Gaibandha district.
It also ordered to submit the probe report by 15 days. Abu Obaidur Rahman and Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua moved for the petitioners, while deputy attorney general Motahar Hossain Raju for the state.
Earlier on November 6, series of clashes took place between Santal community and police, officers and employees of sugar mill over cutting sugarcane in which four members of Santal community were killed and 20 others injured.
Some of the houses of Santal community were torched and looted during the clashes.
