DHAKA, Jan 25, 2017 (BSS) - The High Court today asked the government to issue circular banning unregistered vehicles like Nosimon, Korimon from plying the highways throughout the country.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo passed the order while disposing of a rule issued earlier in this regard.
The court also banned the shallow engine-run vehicles from plying on the highways in ten districts, which are Bagerhat, Norail, Satkhira, Meherpur, Chuadanga, Magura, Kustia, Jhenaidah, Khulna and Jessore.
The High Court had issued the rule asking as to why it shall not order the authorities concerned to follow the Motor Vehicle Ordinance while giving approval to different vehicles for plying on the highways.
The rule was issued following a writ filed by rights group Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB).6
