The High Court today asked the government to bear all the medical expenses of Shahanur Biswas, Jhenaidah man that lost both of his legs as he was beaten by assaulters of his daughter.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order asking health secretary and director general of Directorate General of Health Services to comply with the order.
The court also asked the officials concerned to ensure the security of the members of Shahanur's family. Earlier on November 22, the same High Court bench asked the police to arrest people accused of beating Shahanur, within 72-hour.
According to the newspaper report, Shahanur Biswas of village Naldanga under Kaliganj upazila was brutally beaten on October 16 as he protested his daughter's harassment. Doctors had to amputate both of his legs and four surgeries have been done on him to save his life.
Shahanur is now undergoing treatment at National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.
