Govt works for ensuring uninterrupted power: Nasrul Hamid

DHAKA, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said the government is working for ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity across the country.

People are not only satisfied with power but also they want uninterrupted and quality electricity, he told this at an agreement signing ceremony as the chief guest at Bidyut Bhaban here.

Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) signed a contract for selling power with DPDC and BREB.

The state minister said the government reached electricity to almost houses across the country and 94 percent areas were brought under power coverage.

Around 55 million solar home systems are being used and we have to give efforts to implement Vision 2041 completing the vision 2021, Nasrul Hamid said.

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission has a provision for completing power sale and power purchase agreements with PDBs as a single party.

PDB Acting Secretary Mohammad Imrul Hossain signed the agreement with the Secretary of BREB Asafuddaulah and DPDC Secretary Jayanta Kumar Shikder.

Power Secretary Dr Ahmed Kaikaus, PDB Chairman Engineer Khaled Mahmood, Chairman of REB Major General Moin Uddin (Retd.) and Managing Director of DPDC Bikash Dewan also spoke.
