MEHERPUR State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain here today said the present government is working relentlessly for the wellbeing of women.
The government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken elaborate microcredit programmes to uplift the livelihood of women and make them self-reliant, he said.
The state minister said this while addressing a cheque distribution ceremony as the chief guest, organised by Meherpur Mohila Sangstha, in the town this noon.
Farhad said the livelihood of women has been changed in the last 15 years and they are getting the advantages of the present economy.
With Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Moshudul Alam in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by Deputy Commissioner of the district Ataul Goni, Police Superintendent SM Murad Ali and Chairman of district unit Mohila Sangstha Shamim Ara Hira.
A total of 50 women received cheques in the function.
