The government today finalized a number of programmes to observe the Eid-e-Miladunnabi on December 13 in a befitting manner.
The decisions were taken at an inter-ministerial meeting at the ministry for religious affairs with the ministry's joint secretary M Hafiz Uddin in the chair, said an official release.
The meeting was informed that President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will issue messages on the occasion of holy Miladunnabi.
National flags will be hoisted at government and semi-government offices, autonomous organisations, non-government buildings and establishments of the armed forces.
Important traffic islands and light posts in Dhaka would be decorated with national flags and flags inscribed with 'kalema taiyeba'. Government houses and important military establishments will be illuminated at night.
The meeting decided that Islamic Foundation will publish special supplements marking the day and take a fortnight-long programme, including discussions on the life of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM.).
Discussion meetings and milad mahfils will also be held at the divisional, district, upazila, city corporations and municipality and at the armed forces division.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will air special programmes on the occasion of holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
Special meals would be served in all hospitals, jails, government-run orphanages and old home.
Special measures will be taken to maintain law and order across the country on the day.
