DHAKA, Feb 11, 2017 (BSS) - State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said the government is keen to work with research institutes like MIT for joint research and application of the frontier technology.
"MIT is one the best research institutes for the digital revolution in the world. The advance cutting edge research is taking place in MIT Connection Science in the areas of artificial intelligence, deep learning, big data, internet of things (IoT) and other frontier technologies. We are keen to have an effective and sustainable partnership with MIT," Palak said.
He was addressing a workshop on "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Digital Age" as the chief guest.
Reiterating government's commitment to realize Digital Bangladesh and achieve middle- income status within 2021 by leveraging ICT, the state minister said the government has undertaken a pioneering initiative titled Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) under the revolutionary Startup Bangladesh initiative.
"This aims to create a successful innovation, entrepreneurship and venture capital ecosystem. It will help create and foster partnerships among industry, academia and the government to stimulate innovation, sustain transformational efforts, and promote Bangladesh as a global hub for novel startups," Palak added.
Managing Director of Connection Science of MIT, David L Shrier was the main speaker on the topic and also took part in a question-answer session.
Additional secretaries of ICT Division Harunur Rashid, Partho Prothim Deb, and Shushanto Kumar Shaha, DG of ICT Directorate Banomali Bhoumik, chief strategic advisor of ICT Division Jamil Azher and other senior officials of ICT Division, top leaders from industry, innovators and related stakeholders were also present.
