Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee Convener Abul Hasanat Abdullah today said the government has expanded cultural activities to build new generation with spirit of War of Liberation.

"The government has been working relentlessly to make the new generation free from communal and militant thoughts, inspired by the spirit of Liberation War," said Hasanat.

He was addressing a view exchange meeting with literature and cultural workers at Agailjhara in Barisal.

Hasanat said the government wants to build a safe, sound and developed country for the new generation.

He also said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangladesh is essentially the same and indifferent names - one could not have existed without the other.

Abul Hasanat said introducing an international award after the name of Bangabandhu, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation, is a great achievement for the nation.

This award will play a special role in creating the country's image worldwide and branding Bangladesh, he added.

Huge developments have taken place in every upazila of Barishal in the education, health, agriculture, forestation, power and infrastructure sectors, said Hasanat.

Hasanat urged the cultural workers to work relentlessly to take the benefits of development at the doorstep of marginalized people.

Gournadi municipality mayor Md Harisur Rahman and local cultural and political leaders were present, among others.
