DHAKA, Jan 6, 2017 (BSS)- Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith today said the government has ensured the education for all for building an enlightened nation.
"There is no way of development without education...so the government has prioritized the education and taken various initiatives for its uplift," said the minister as the chief guest while inaugurating the daylong '3rd re-union programme-2017' of the Shamsunnahar hall of Dhaka University here.
Shamsunnahar Hall Alumnae Association organized the function at hall auditorium with upholding a slogan "Smritir Anande, Eso Mili Praner Bondhone".
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Shamsunnahar Hall Provost Professor Dr Supriya Saha and Dhaka University Alumnae Association President AK Azad, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Dhaka University Alumnae Association's General Secretary Shamsunnahar Chapa gave the welcome address while Hall Alumnae Association President Ava Datta chaired the function.
Regarding the initiative of former Shamsunnahar hall students, he said the ex-Shamsunnahar Hall students have taken a step of providing scholarship to the poor students which is 'praiseworthy' as it will ensure their education.
The hall alumnae association gave receptions to 10 women personalities of the country who were former students of the hall and awarded scholarship among five poor students at the function.
