Dhaka: The government today sanctioned various procurement proposals, including two cargos of LNG, 1.10 crore liters of rice bran oil, and 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice, aimed at addressing the increasing demand within the nation. These approvals were concluded at the 12th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division proposed that Petrobangla would acquire one cargo of LNG from the spot market through an international quotation method from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd, United Kingdom, costing approximately Taka 694.47 crore with each MMBtu LNG priced at $14.48. Additionally, Petrobangla is set to procure another cargo of LNG from the same vendor for around Taka 682.00 crore, where each MMBtu LNG is priced at $14.22.
The Ministry of Commerce also put forward proposals leading to the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) procuring 10,000 metric tons of lentils locally from M/S Modina Trading Corporation, Dhaka, at about Taka 94.23 crore with each kilogram costing Taka 94.23. Furthermore, the TCB is set to purchase 1.10 crore liters of rice bran oil through local Open Tender Method from Green Oil and Poultry Feed Industries, Dhaka, Majumder Products Ltd, Dhaka, and Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd, Jessore, for around Taka 178.75 crore, with each liter costing Taka 162.50.
The Directorate General of Food under the Ministry of Food aims to procure 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice from M/S Pattabhi Agro Foods Private Limited, India, under an international Open Tender Method for the current fiscal year, with each metric ton priced at $429.55.
Additionally, two separate proposals from the Local Government Division saw the awarding of contracts for projects under the Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant Construction Project, Phase-3 under Dhaka WASA to China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co Ltd and HICC-SRC JV, Dhaka.
