Government to lay 300km more optical fiber line

Fresh initiatives have been taken to expand country's existing optical fiber network up to the local levels in order to facilitate high speed internet for people living at periphery levels, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mohammad Moshiur Rahman Ranga said today.

"Base stations are being set up at all metropolitan cities, district towns and upazila headquarters to provide high speed broadband internet facilities there. Besides, a 300-km optical fiber line is also being laid out for the same purpose," he said while addressing as the chief guest at a function held at Bishwa Shahittya Kendra here.

BD Soft Incorporation, a private ICT venture, organized the function to mark its eight years of operation, said a press release.
