‘Goriber Koshaikhana’ (Butcher of the Poor), a project of a voluntary organization, has brought smiles to the faces of the poor and helpless people of Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj district by offering 1 kg beef, 1 kg polao rice and meat seasoning only at Tk 10.

To share the joy of Eid, the voluntary organization Bikrampur Manab Seva Foundation has organized this exceptional Eid Bazar.

On Tuesday morning, more than 300 low-income families bought these important Eid items from Goriber Koshaikhana at the Kamarkhara schoolground in the upazila.

Shefali Begum, 35, of Haiyarpar village in Tongibari upazila, said her younger son was crying for beef but she was unable to meet his demand. “I was sleepless for nights to meet my son’s demand. Finally, Allah fulfilled the desires of the little child and I’m so happy now,” Shefali added.

Marfot Ali, 60, of Shilai village, said he earned tk 5000 a month and struggled to run his family with this little money and was scared to buy meat. “But when I came to know that Goriber Koshaikhana will sell beef only at tk 10 per kg, I thought to buy anyhow. So I did not delay after Eid prayer and went to the Goriber Koshaikhana to buy meat. Now my Eid joy has doubled after getting beef at such a low price” he added.

Riyadh Hussain, a founding member of the organization, said that they organized it with monthly subscriptions and donations from the members of the organization. “But our plan was bigger. We will be able to support more families in the future with the cooperation of all,,” he hopes.

Abu Bakar Siddique Hira, president of the organization, said, “The price of meat in the market is 650 to 700 Tk per kg, which cannot be bought by the low income people of the society. So we have arranged this to share the joy of Eid with them,” Bakar added.
