Global Covid cases top 622 million

The overall number of global Covid cases has now crossed 622 million.

 

According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 622,370, 893 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,547,074 on Friday morning.

 

The US has recorded 98,166,904 cases of Covid-19 so far and 1,084,282 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.

 

According to Indiaโ€™s federal health ministry data, 2,096 new cases of Covid were reported in 24 hours till Thursday morning, taking the total tally to 44,585,456 in the country.

 

The country also logged 27 related deaths in 24 hours, pushing the overall toll to 528, 611 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.

 

With the reporting of fresh cases, India’s active caseload currently stands at 42,846.

 

Covid in Bangladesh

 

Bangladesh reported 665 more Covid cases in 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

 

The total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,360 as no deaths were reported during the period while with the new infections, the caseload rose to 2,023,810, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

 

The daily case test positivity rate dropped to 14.07% from Tuesdayโ€™s 15.42% as 4,728 samples were tested.

 

The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.45% while the recovery rate declined to 97.05%.
