Global Covid-19 cases cross 676 million

The overall number of Covid-19 cases around the world has now crossed 676 million.

According to the latest global data, the total Covid-19 case count was 676,396,299 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,773,261 this morning.

The US has recorded 104,509,261 Covid-19 cases so far, while 1,136,448 people have died from the virus in the North American country โ€” both highest around the world.

India on Monday reported 91 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of coronavirus infections to 4,46,83,454 in the South Asian country.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the daily positivity rate in India stands at 0.14%, and active cases comprise 0.01% of total infections.

The active case tally remained at 1,817, with no rise or decline in such cases, while Covid-related death count stands at 5,30,745.

Meanwhile, Tokyo reported 1,105 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, down 713 from a week before.

Twelve new fatalities were newly confirmed, while the number of severely ill coronavirus patients under Tokyoโ€™s criteria rose by two from Sunday to 41, the metropolitan government said.

Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh

Bangladesh reported 13 more Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours till Monday morning.

With the new number, the country's total caseload rose to 2,037,622, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

However, the official death toll from the disease remained unchanged at 29,443 as no new fatalities were reported.

The daily Covid-19 test positivity rose to 0.58 percent against the 2,247 samples tested.
