RANGPUR, Feb 10, 2017 (BSS) - The three-day sixth " Gemcon Cup Golf Tournament- 2017" ended through a colourful ceremony at Rangpur Golf Club (RGC) in Rangpur Cantonment this evening.
Over 100 contestants of different Golf Clubs from across the country participated in the male, female, junior and sub-junior groups of the tournament.
The Gemcon Group sponsored the tournament organised by Rangpur Golf Club.
Earlier, Vice-chairman of Gemcon Group Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, formally inaugurated the tournament in the opening ceremony as the chief guest.
In the Male Group, golfer Lieutenant Colonel Md Mamun Ar Rashid Chowdhury secured the first position while golfer Brigadier General Md Sarwar Mahbub won the best gross award. Golfer Major Ashraf became the runner up while golfer Dr Zabed Akhter won the second best gross award.
Golfer Colonel Md Zulfiqar Ali became the second runner up while golfer Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah won the third best gross award.
Golfer Brigadier General Kazi Shamim Farhad became the third runner up, golfer Major General Md Masud Razzaque won the maximum par award while Brigadier General Md Amin Akbar got the longest drive award.
In Female Group, golfer Subah became the winner while golfer Mrs Nasrine Haque Boby was awarded for becoming the best gross.
Fida secured the first position while Sadat became the runner up in Junior Group.
In Sub-Junior Group, Elhan secured the first position and Saiba became the runner up.
Vice-chairman of Gemcon Group Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, Rangpur Area Commander, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 66 Infantry Division and President of RGC Major General Md Masud Razzaque distributed prizes among the winners.
High officials of Gemcon Group, high ranking military officials, RGC officials, participating golfers and local journalists were present, among others, in the concluding ceremony.
The prize-giving ceremony was followed by a colourful cultural evening where music, songs and dances were presented by the local artistes.
