Former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen today said Freedom Fighters (FFs) are the best sons of the soil and the nation must pay due honour to them to properly uphold core spirit of the War of Liberation in 1971.
The former envoy said this while addressing a discussion at district Zila Parishad auditorium on the occasion of Bishwanath Free Day as the chief guest, organized by Bishwanath Upazila Samiti.
The chief guest recalled the unprecedented heroism and sacrifices of the FFs during the War of Liberation in liberating the country from the clutches of the Pakistani army and brought independence, freedom, dignity and pride for the nation.
Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, MP, and former Member of Parliament Nurul Islam Khan spoke at the function as special guests with samiti president Moniruzzaman Chowdhury in the chair.
The function was addressed, among others, by Awami League leader ANM Shafiqul Haque, freedom fighters Mujibur Rahman, ATM Shoib, Wahed Ali, Muniruddin Chowdhury and Abul Khayer Chowdhury.
