Free eye camp treats 4,000 patients in Nilphamari

A daylong free eye camp for the poor was held on the premises of Syedpur Railway Government High School under Syedpur upazila of the district today.

Al-Bashar International Foundation, a non-governmental development organization, and Al-Noor Eye Hospital jointly organized the eye camp.

The director general of Al-Bashar International Foundation, Bangladesh region Dr Ahmed Tahir Al-Mimbari inaugurated the eye camp as the chief guest.

Medical director of the organization Doctor Md. Abu-Sayed, among others, were present on the occasion.

A total of 4,000 patients were provided with health care and medicines including eye examinations, prescriptions and other facilities in the eye camp free of cost.

The organisers said that more than five hundred cataract surgery patients were selected from those who came to the camp. They will be provided free cataract removal and lens fitting facilities at Makkah Eye Hospital in Rangpur, a member institution of the organisation.
