KISHOREGANJ, April 11, 2017 (BSS) - Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya today said flood affected families at haor areas would get assistance.
"The people of badly affected should sent letters to the concerned
authorities seeking food assistance immediately" he said at a public meeting at Abdul Gani Bhuiyan High School play ground after visiting the flood affected areas at Mithamoin upazilla of the district.
Local parliamentarian Rezwan Ahmed Toufiq, Disaster Management and Relief secretary M Shah Kamal and director general of disaster management directorate M Riaz Ahmed were present.
An official of Department Agriculture Extension (DAE) said that paddy field of some 41,325 farmers damaged due to flash flood. A total of 24,100 hectors out of 99,200 hectors land at Etna, Mithamoin and Austagram upazilla were badly affected.
He said the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry has allocated 250 metric tons of rice and Taka 15 lakh cash as food and financial assistance for the flood affected people.
Later, the minister handed over food grains relief among the affected people and asked them to preserve their cattle food.
