DHAKA, Dec 26, 2016 (BSS) - The first death anniversary of Dr. Syed Yusuf Hassan, a Language Movement veteran and a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be observed tomorrow in a befitting manner.
On the occasion, Qurankhwani, Milad Mahfil and feeding of destitute have been arranged at the grave of the diseased at Mohammadpur in the capital after Zohr prayers.
Dr. Yusuf was recipient of prestigious "Bangla Academy Award" for his outstanding contribution during the language movement and he was arrested on February 21 in 1952 for his speech claiming Bangla should be made the mother tongue of Pakistan.
. He toured Peking, China in 1954 Peace Conference of the Asian and Pacific Regions with likes of Tofazzel Hossain Manik Miah, Ataur Rahman Khan, Khandakar Mohammed Illias and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He was one of the founder members of NAP (Muzzafar) and was president of Aligarh University Old Boys Association in Dhaka at the time of death.
