The fire that broke out at the Bhashantek slum earlier in the evening has been brought under control.
The fire originated around 8:15 pm and soon started spreading to the adjacent areas, said Shahjahan Sikder, DAD (media cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.
On information, five firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 8:45 pm, said the officer.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
A probe has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the fire, he added.
