At least three people, including a man and his son, were killed and 3 others injured as a truck hit an auto-rickshaw on Sherpur-Bongaon road in Sadar upazila's Tatalpur area Friday evening.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Rafiq Miah,48 and his son Rabbi Miah,12 of Dohalia village of Jhinnaigati upazila.
According to the police, Rafiq Mia and his son boarded a Nalitabari-bound CNG along with three other passengers from Sherpur on Friday evening.
The accident occurred around 7:30pm when the truck coming from the opposite direction hit the auto-rickshaw carrying them, leaving three people dead on the spot and three others, including the auto-driver, critically injured, said Basir Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar police station.
The injured were admitted to General Hospital, added the OC.
