A farmer was injured in gunfire in Tangail’s Ghatail over land feud on Tuesday .
Farmer Shahjahan Mia, of Kurmushi village, was shot by engineer Sohrab Ali when he was cutting paddy with other farmers on the feuded land, police said.
According to the locals, Sohrab Ali had a long-standing dispute with Majeda Begum of the same area over a piece of land. Shahjahan was injured when Sohrab opened fire at random seeing the workers in the field.
OC Azharul Islam Sarkar of Ghatail Police Station said that Majeda went to the area on Tuesday morning with eight workers to cut paddy. Over information, Sohrab went to the spot and forbade them to cut the paddy. “At one point, he fired with his licensed shotgun leaving a worker injured.”
Legal action will be taken in this regard, the OC added.
