DHAKA, March 21, 2017 (BSS) - Effective steps are underway to fix up national standard for proper compensating for the on duty injured or dead laborers', state minister for labour and employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu said today.
"The existing labour laws would be made time-befitting further to ensure labour rights considering the country's socioeconomic condition," he told a view-exchange meeting at CIRDAP auditorium here.
Sramik Karmachari Oikkya Parishad (Skop) and Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) arranged the meeting styled "National Standard on Compensation for Labourers Injury and Death on Duty" with president of Jatiya Sramik League Shukkur Mahmood in the chair.
With sramik leader Dr Wazedul Islam in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by worker leaders Roy Ramesh Chandra, Kamrul Ahsan, Amirul Haque Amin, Rajequzzaman Ratan, Sheikh Nurul Haque, Naimul Islam Jewel, Shamsunnahar Bhuiyan and Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmad.
Advocate Mohammad Nazrul Islam, advocacy officer of BILS, presented the keynote paper.
