Elections to 61 district councils of the country will be held on December 28.
Chief Election Commission Kazi Raqibuddin Ahmed today declared the schedule for polls in 61 districts barring the three in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).
As per the schedule, the last day for filing nomination papers is December 1 and the papers will be scrutinized on December 3 and 4.
The last day for withdrawal of candidature is December 11. The
candidates will be allocated poll symbols on December 12.
According to the amended law, a district council will have 21 members, including one chairman, 15 general members and five female members
They will be elected with the votes of city corporation mayors and councilors, upazila council chairmen and vice-chairmen, ward councilors, municipality mayors and councilors and union council chairmen and members.
Nomination papers for district council polls could be submitted directly or online.
A candidate can submit nomination papers online going to the EC website.
