Durga Puja being celebrated in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR Durga Puja, one of the greatest religious

festival of the Hindu community is being celebrated in the district amid

peaceful atmosphere this year.

Siddatha Sankar Roy said, Festive and peaceful atmosphere are prevailing

among the Hindu CommunityWe are celebrating the Durga Puja, the biggest

religious festival of the Hindu Community, with due religious fervour.

He said puja mandaps were decorated with beautiful eye-catching lighting.

A large number of devotees are visiting the Mandaps every day, he added.

District Relief and Rehabilitation Office sources said 211 puja mandaps

have been erected in the district this year.

Sources said 62 Puja Mandaps were erected in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila while

45 Puja Mandaps erected in Sarishabari, 27 in Madarganj, 25 in Dewanganj, 19

in Islampur, 18 in Melandaha and 15 in Bakshiganj upazila.

The district administration disbursed around 105.5 tonnes of rice among the

puja mandaps to celebrate the festival.
