DHAKA, March 12, 2017 (BSS) - Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University
(DU) Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound shock at the death of Bangladesh Ambassador to Brazil and former foreign secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes.
In a condolence message, the VC said "Mijarul Quayes was a connoisseur of literature, culture and art despite being a career diplomat".
He was also very fond of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman, he added.
The VC also said at the death of Quayes, the country has lost a sincere and patriotic civil servant. His death is an irreparable loss to the country.
Professor Arefin prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and
conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Quayes breathed his last following respiratory problems at a hospital in Bras-lia on early Saturday at 6 am Bangladesh time.
He was 57.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and host of relatives and
admirers to mourn his death.
Mijarul Quayes was born in 1960 in Kishoreganj district. He earned his bachelor and master degrees from International Relations department of Dhaka University. He also took higher education from John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, USA.
