DHAKA, April 4, 2017 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad Speaker and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Chairperson Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today called for lessening inequalities to fight terrorism and militancy.
"Deprivation creates frustration which prompts people to engage with misdeeds," she told newsmen at her own room at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here this evening.
"Elimination of terrorism and militancy is interlinked with 'redressing inequalities, the theme of the 136th Assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) that is being held in Dhaka" she observed.
The JS speaker termed terrorism and militancy is a global problem saying that the leaders from across the world particularly the members of parliaments of different countries who are attending the assembly should come up with a fruitful discussion on the issue.
"World leaders should find out the reasons why the terrorism and militancy spreads across the globe. We have to go in depth to realize the key reasons to solve the problem to establish peace in the world," she said.
