Doa mahfil for PM’s special assistant Shakil held

A special doa mahfil seeking eternal peace of departed soul of Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, a special assistance to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was held at his Baghmara residence and local mosque in the area here after Jumma prayers today.

The people of all walks of life including ministers, parliament members, central and local leaders of Awami League and its associate bodies as well as administrative and police officials joined the doa mahfil.

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman, AL Central Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, Advocate Misbahuddin Siraj, Enamul Haque Shamim and Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Industries and Commerce Affairs Secretary Abdus Sattar, Working Committee Member Golam Rabbani Chinu, parliament members Nazim Uddin Ahmed, Fahmi Golandaj Bubel, Anwarul Abedin Tuhin and Dr M Amanullah, Deputy Commissioner Khalilur Rahman and Police Super Syed Nurul Islam were present on the occasion.

Pesh Imam of Station Mosque Md Rafikul Islam Hamedi conducted the munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Shakil, a former senior vice president and organizing secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman and President of District Awami League and Shakil's father Advocate Zahirul Haque Khoka spoke briefly before the doa mahfil.

Shakil's father broke into tears while reminiscing his eldest son. Shakil, who was also a poet, passed away due to a cardiac arrest at a Gulshan restaurant in Dhaka on Tuesday at the age of 47.
