Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam has been elected the chairman of Steering Committee for South and West Asian region of C40 – a network of the world’s megacities committed to addressing climate change.
Eric Garcetti, mayor of Los Angeles informed the news through an email, according to a press release.
Eric also congratulated Atiq for being elected chairman of C40 Steering Committee for the South and West Asian region.
Last year, Mayor Atiq attended C40 conference in Denmark from September 9-12 and delivered speech on various topics, including creating healthy environment in the cities and decreasing carbon emission by tree plantation.
Around the world, C40 Cities connects 96 of the world’s cities to take bold climate action, leading the way towards a healthier and more sustainable future.
C40 supports cities to collaborate effectively, share knowledge and drive meaningful, measurable and sustainable action on climate change.
