DIG (Prisons) of Sylhet range held over graft allegations

DHAKA, The AntiCorruption Commission (ACC) today arrested Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) of Sylhet range Partha Gopal Banik after the antigraft watchdog seized Taka 80 lakh from his residence in the capital.

ACC spokesman and deputy director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told BSS that an ACC team conducted a drive at the residence of DIG (Prisons) Partha Gopal at Bhuter Goli in the city's Dhanmondi area this afternoon and seized the money.

Later, he said, the ACC team launched a drive at the DIG (prisons) Dhaka residence and detained him after the team seized Taka 80 lakh from his house.
