DHAKA, Dec 17, 2016 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad Speaker and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Chairperson Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has urged the Commonwealth parliament members to grow interests among youths in democratic governance system.
"Democratic governance system is the best among the governance systems in current world," she said in her presidential speech at the general assembly of 62nd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in London on Friday, said an official release here today.
The speaker said the CPA is working since its inception for the flourishing of democracy.
The present-day students would have to be made aware about the benefits of democracy, she added.
The speaker said CPA is platform of 185 organizations of parliament members and law enforcers across the world.
It has created areas of innovative thinking for parliament members, she added. She urged Commonwealth parliament members to make a success CPA's programme with different universities of the world for flourishing democracy.
Speakers, MPs and parliament officials from 52 countries are taking part in the 62nd Commonwealth Conference.
