Death toll from Kushtia filling station fire rises to 4

The death toll from the fire at a filling station in Bheramara upazila of Kushtia rose to four with the death of another at a hospital in the capital on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Rimon, 14, a worker of the filling station and a resident of Daulatpur upazila.

Rimon, who sustained 78 percent burn injuries during the fire incident at the filling station, died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the early hours of Thursday, said officer-in-charge of Bheramara Police Station Mojibur Rahman.

On Sunday, another worker Rajib succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Currently, worker Md Bidyut Hossain, 25, is undergoing treatment at the hospital with 17 percent burn injuries.

On Friday, the fire broke out at Dafadar Filling Station in Mahishdoba area around 8 pm while unloading fuel from an oil tanker.

Two workersโ€”Shahajul, son of Shahajuddin and Bijoy, son of Touhidul Islam of Digholkandi village in Bheramara upazilaโ€”died on the spot while three people sustained burn injuries.
