DCAB elects Lotus, Pantho as President, GS

DHAKA, Dec 28, 2016 (BSS) - Diplomatic Correspondents Association (DCAB) today elected Rezaul Karim Lotus of the Daily Star and Pantho Rahman of Channel I as its new President and General Secretary for 2017.

A three-member election commission headed by senior journalist Shafiqul Karim conducted the polls in which Salam Jubair of the Daily Sangbad was elected as the Vice-President.

Karim was assisted by other two election commissioners-Shymol Dutta, Editor of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj and senior journalist of the Daily Observer Nizamuddin Ahmed as the polls were held at the Jatiya Press Club.

The DCAB members elected Mahfuzur Rahman of Jamuna Television as Joint Secretary, Nurul Islam Hasib of BDnews24.com as Treasurer and Jesmine Papri of Banglanews24.com as Office Secretary.

The elected other executive committee members are: Masud Karim of the Daily Jugantor, Angur Nahar Monty of TV channel News24, Aminul Islam Mirja of BSS, Sanaul Haque of ATN Bangla and Towhidur Rahman of the Daily Janakantha.

Earlier, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of DCAB was held with outgoing President Angur Nahar Monty of Television Channel News24 in the chair.
