Chattogram University Teachers’ Association (CUTA) has condemned and protested a fabricated report of a national daily published on the Independence and National Day undermining the country’s independence and overall economic progress and infrastructural development.

The teachers’ body also expressed deep concern over the situation arisen centering the report published on March 26, said a statement here today.

Following the landmark victory in the last three consecutive parliament elections, the government led by Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina, which was formed on January 7 in 2019 for the third time in a raw, has been running the state very efficiently, it said.

During this period, the country witnessed remarkable progress in all indexes of development and the country is now at the final stage to be upgraded to developing country from the least developed status, they said.

If this progress continues, Bangladesh will be transformed to developed and prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman soon, said the statement.

When the whole world is facing economic recession triggered by the global pandemic Coronavirus and Russia-Ukraine war, selecting the great Independence and National Day for publishing the report on commodity prices by the reporter was a planned effort to create a negative impression about the independence in the minds of people, it said.

CUTA thought that the concerned persons might have published the report being instigated by the anti-liberation forces, the statement added.

The CUTA urged the people concerned to deal with the situation arisen centering the report properly so that the anti-democratic and anti-liberation forces could not cash the issue to tarnish the image of the government at home and abroad.
