Crocodile kills youth in Barguna

BARGUNA, March 25, 2017 (BSS) - A visibly irritated crocodile, raised at the Tengragiri eco-park, today killed a youth at the Taltali Upazila of this southwestern coastline district as he is believed to have disturbed the animal while it was resting beside a pond.

Officials and witnesses said coastguard personnel recovered the body of 29-year old Asaduzzamn Rani, a resident of Mathbaria upazila of neighbouring Pirojpur and MBA student of a Kuala Lumpur university.

"He visibly irritated the animal with a stick while visiting the eco-park with some friends . . . the croc at one stage dragged him under the pond water," a police officer said quoting Rani's friends.

Being informed of the incident coastguard personnel rushed to the scene and recovered his body after an hour with marks of severe wounds.

Officer-in-Charge of Taltali Thana Komlesh Chandra said the body was sent to Barguna Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
