Court places 2 women militants to 7-day remand

DHAKA, Dec 26, 2016 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today placed two women members of militant outfit Neo JMB on seven-day remand as police produced them before it this afternoon.

"Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Meher Nigar Suchona remanded them for seven-day each as Inspector Saidur Rahman of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP's) Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crimes (CTTC) unit produced Jebunnahar Shila and Trisha Moni before the court and pleaded for 10-day remand," a court official said.

Shila, wife of Major (retd) Jahid, allegedly the trainer of Gulshan and Sholakia attackers, and Trisha, wife of "Neo JMB" leader Maynul Musa, surrendered with two babies during law enforcing agencies' drive codenamed Ripple 24, in their Ashkona den on December 24.

Nineteen grenades and two suicide vests recovered from the house alongside three firearms. The explosives were later defused.

Two militants died in the drive, during which one blew herself up in a suicide blast, injuring her daughter.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcing agencies conducted the drive at house no-50 (Surya Vila) at Ashkona in Dhaka's Dakkhin Khan area on Saturday last.
