Court asks police to probe defamation case against Khaleda

DHAKA, Jan 25, 2017 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today ordered police to probe a case filed against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for making derogatory comments about Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Awami League, and submit report.

"After recording testimony of the complainant, the court ordered officer in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station to file a probe report on February 22," a court official said.

Earlier in the morning, Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddique filed the case with Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Abdullah Al Masud's court.

The complainant in his plea said Khaleda made those comments about Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur and Awami League at a function held on December 31, 2016, marking the founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal.
