Country’s development cannot be stopped through creating militancy: Shahriar

RAJSHAHI, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, has categorically said the country's development couldn't be stopped through creating militancy and terrorism.

He said the people at present realized that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always works for development of the country.

He was distributing corrugated tin sheets among rootless families and bank cheques for treatment of distressed freedom fighters at Charghat Upazila sadar in the district on Thursday afternoon as chief guest.

On the occasion, 40 freedom fighters received bank cheques worth Taka two lakh and 21 poor families get tin sheets as humanitarian support.

With Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ashraful Islam in the chair, freedom fighter Anwar Hossain, local Awami League leaders Fakhrul Islam and Ekramul Islam and Nimpara Union Parishad Chairman Munir Hossain also spoke on the occasion.

Shahriar Alam says people have boycotted those who are unleashing

militancy and terrorism through misinterpreting the Islamic values with an ulterior motive to obstruct the country's ongoing development activities.

Shahriar Alam categorically said: "Committing crime against humanity and unleashing terrorism can't be part of any movement or any norm."

He expressed his optimism that Bangladesh would become a middle-income country by 2021 if the present development spree in all sectors continues.

"All the anti-people and anti-development activities must be eliminated with officials-public collaborative efforts," he said.

He mentioned that the freedom fighters have made supreme sacrifices for independence of the country. So, they should remain vigil and alert so that no more anti-liberation elements like Nizami and Mujahid can hoist national flag.

State Minister Alam said the present government has been implementing multifarious programmes for welfare of the public in general including freedom fighters.

The development programmes carried out in all sectors, including

agriculture, industry, power, education, health, investment, food security, social safety net, women empowerment, environment, information and communication and technology are remarkable.
