Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said multidimensional development has taken place in Bangladesh.
"Development has taken place in road communication to all spheres at the level," he said speaking as the chief guest at a function marking the unveiling of a sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) auditorium in the city.
Presided over by Agriculture Secretary Mayeenuddin Abdullah, the function addressed by Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury as the main speaker.
Agriculturalist and Awami League Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, MP, and agriculturist Abdul Mannan, MP, also spoke on the occasion.
The home minister said Bangladesh has attained food sufficiency under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He recalled that Bangabandhu had given the status of class one office to the agriculture officers.
Replying to a question from journalists, the home minister said Nasirnagar is quiet at present. Those involved in attacks on the Hindus there have been arrested, he added.
Addressing the function, Matia Chowdhury said attaining food sufficiency was a difficult task in a densely populated country like Bangladesh, but that has been made possible here.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina understands that agriculture if the main driving force and she is giving 30 percent subsidy for irrigation and fertilizer, the minister added.
