Councilors to be awarded for contributions to dengue prevention: Tajul

DHAKA, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam today said the councilors, who would make notable contributions to the dengue prevention campaign, will be awarded and sent abroad for training.

People have to work together for cleaning all possible breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes to prevent dengue outbreak The councilors will be awarded who would make good contributions to the dengue prevention campaign. On the other hand, failure in this regard will not be tolerated, he said.

The minister was addressing a mosquito eliminating crush programme organized by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on south colony ground premises adjacent to Azimpur Chapra Mosque in the capital.

He urged all concerned to visit every nook and corner of the city for raising awareness to rid citizens of the dengue panic saying the extent of dengue outbreak will be minimized soon as the government is geared with utmost sincerity to cope with the situation.

With DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokan in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by Local Government Division secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed, councilors of various wards of the city corporations and senior officials of the ministry concerned.
